Flux selection is best left to the recommendations of the manufacturer or distributor of the solder; most will be happy to assist you in selecting that which is most appropriate for your application.

“Tinner’s” flux is a very effective flux for preparing the surfaces of steel and pewter for soldering with a tin/ bismuth solder.
