Oldani Brothers Pewter and Silversmiths
Pewter is a beautiful, versatile metal that craftsmen have used for hundreds of years to make trophies, ornaments, utensils, fine tableware, countertops, souvenirs, and artistic sculptures. Oster Pewter has partnered with Oldani Brothers to integrate our raw pewter production with the craftsmen who work it. Oldani Brothers’ craftsmen are well versed in the trades of metal spinning, soldering, casting, and polishing. They aim to train new workers in these arts to keep the legacy of pewter craftsmen alive from well-known companies including Preisner Pewter, Connecticut House Pewter, Bates & Klinke, and others.
Metal Spinning
Oldani Brothers is primarily a spinning operation that specializes in pewter and silver spinning. They are also practiced with spinning gold. With three capable spinners, they can handle high-volume spinning jobs. They primarily spin trophies for competitions in golf, horse racing, yachting, polo, and other prestigious events, but they also provide toll manufacturing services. More information can be found on their website at oldanibrothers.com.
Torch Soldering
Soldering pewter and silver requires a practiced eye and a steady hand. Oldani Brothers’ solderers are well practiced in the use of hard and soft solders to bond spun goods or castings in pewter, silver, gold, copper, or brass. To learn more check out their article on pewter smithing
Pewter Casting
Both spin casting and bronze mold casting are used at Oldani Brothers to enhance their line of spun goods. They also have their own line of cast pewter souvenirs of America’s monuments including the Statue of Liberty, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, and the White House among others. Besides their own line, they are also available for contract casting.
Solid Metal Polishing
Oldani Brothers’ polishers are capable of a variety of finishes including bright, satin, antique, and tumbled. A bright or mirror finish is reflective like a mirror. Both pewter and sterling silver polish up to a similar bright shine. A satin or gray finish is the traditional pewter matte look. An antique finish oxidizes the metal with a mild acid to blacken it before polishing over the piece to leave the ridges bright and the background dark. Antiqued pieces are sprayed with lacquer to prevent bleeding. A tumbled finish is an attractive bright finish with a textured surface. It is often a cost effective alternative to tumbling by hand. By integrating all of the manufacturing techniques listed above, Oldani Brothers has established itself as an all-in-one integrated pewter and silver manufacturing shop. For more information about their work or to contact them about their capabilities, visit their website at oldanibrothers.com.
